Throughout
the years, the journal has established a strict peer
review process and a wide readership. The Journal
is intended for circulation among fellows, members,
inceptors, and affiliates of the College, colleagues
in psychiatry, and selected readers in other fields
of medicine and allied professions, both locally and
abroad. The Journal is indexed in EMBSE/Excerpta Medica
and PSycINFO.
Type
of Articles
The
journal will publish original articles, review papers,
and case reports related to the Clinical practice
and research in psychiatry and related disciplines.
Book reviews, editorials and letter to the editor
are also welcome.
Peer
Review Process
Each paper submitted for publication will be assessed
by two independent reviewers. The Editorial Board
will select reviewers who are experienced in the relevant
fields. Additional review may be performed at the
discretion of the Editorial Board. The final publication
decision lies with the Editorial Board. The peer review
process may take 6 to 12 weeks. The corresponding
author will be informed of the acceptance or rejection
of the manuscript by mail along with the reviewers'
comments. All reviewers and authors will remain anonymous
to each other. There should be no direct reference
to the authors in the manuscripts, other than in the
title page, to maintain the authors anonymity to the
reviewers.
Copyright
Paper are accepted on the understanding that they
have not been and will not be published in any other
journal. Author(s) will be requested to sign an assignment
copyright when a paper is accepted for publication.
Accepted papers become the property of the Hong Kong
Journal of Psychiatry and may not be published elsewhere
without written permission from the Journal. The principal
author must ensure that all co-authors listed agree
to submission of the paper. Any written or illustrative
material already published elsewhere must be duly
acknowledged and accompanied by the written consent
of the publisher(s) concerned. A summary of full text
of the published papers will also be published in
the Journal's homepage on the Internet, which allows
free access by all browsers, as well as in any other
format for free or charged access as determined by
the Journal.
Responsibility
of the Authors
All persons named as authors must agree that they
have reviewed and approved the manuscript prior to
submission and they accept responsibility for the
information contained in the article. Individuals
who are not principal researchers or writers should
not be listed as authors. Alternatively, they may
be acknowledged for their ancillary role in the acknowledgement
footnote. The authors must agree that the original
research data are available for review upon a formal
request from the Chief Editor. The authors are responsible
for all statements in their articles.
Editing
The editorial Board may edit the manuscripts for clarity
and brevity, consistency with the Journal's style
and format, as well as readability.
